Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals Celebrates World Physiotherapy Day, Showcasing Comprehensive Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Services Across Oman
Marking World Physiotherapy Day, Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals organized a scientific and awareness program highlighting the vital role of physiotherapy and rehabilitation in restoring mobility, improving quality of life, and enabling patients to regain independence. The event showcased the Group's comprehensive rehabilitation services and reaffirmed its commitment to delivering care through its four guiding 4A’s principles—Affordability, Accessibility, Availability, and Accreditation.
The event was graced by Engineer Qutaiba bin Saeed Al Ghailani, Vice Chairman of the Oman Football Association (OFA), who appreciated the Group's comprehensive physiotherapy services and advanced rehabilitation facilities. He noted that these initiatives would significantly contribute to meeting the growing rehabilitation needs of the community while supporting healthier and more active lifestyles.
At Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals, physiotherapy and rehabilitation extend far beyond pain relief. The Group offers specialized rehabilitation programs in sports and orthopaedics, stroke and neurological rehabilitation, cardiac rehabilitation, women's health and post-delivery physiotherapy, paediatric rehabilitation, hydrotherapy, pain management, and musculoskeletal disorders, supported by advanced treatment modalities and multidisciplinary expertise.
The program emphasized how the Four A's are embedded into every aspect of physiotherapy services. Affordability ensures that high-quality rehabilitation remains within reach of every family. Accessibility is ensured through all the centres of the group across Oman and is strengthened through the Group's Home Care Physiotherapy Services program, enabling qualified physiotherapists to deliver treatment at patients' homes when they are unable to visit a hospital. Availability is ensured through the Group's extensive network of centres across Oman, equipped with experienced physiotherapists and advanced rehabilitation facilities. Accreditation reflects the Group's adherence to internationally recognized quality standards, ensuring safe, evidence-based, and patient-focused rehabilitation.
Another major highlight of the event was the introduction of the Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREM) and Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROM) program across the Group's physiotherapy departments. This unique and rare quality initiative will systematically measure every patient's recovery, functional improvement, treatment outcomes, and experience throughout rehabilitation, reinforcing the Group's commitment to patient safety, clinical excellence, and continuous quality improvement.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. Ayshath Shakeela, Branch Head of Badr Al Samaa Royal Hospital, highlighted the growing importance of physiotherapy and rehabilitation in modern healthcare. She reaffirmed the group's commitment to delivering comprehensive, patient-centred rehabilitation services through innovation, quality, and compassionate care.
The scientific program featured expert presentations by Dr. A. Venkatesh, Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon, on Sports Rehabilitation & Physiotherapy; Dr. Benny Panakkal, Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, on Cardiac Rehabilitation & Physiotherapy; and Dr. Shima Nabil, Specialist Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, on Post-Delivery Physiotherapy. Ms. Jesikala, Physiotherapist, presented the advanced rehabilitation modalities and physiotherapy services available across Badr Al Samaa Group, while Dr. Asif Abdul Hamed, Specialist Paediatrician and Group Quality Head, introduced the PREM and PROM initiative and its role in measuring treatment outcomes and enhancing patient-centred care.
Mr. Abdul Latheef Uppala and Dr. P. A. Mohamed, Managing Directors of Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals, jointly said: "Physiotherapy is an integral part of modern healthcare and plays a vital role in helping patients recover, regain independence, and improve their quality of life.
